Mystique from C and D by ReillyBrown Mystique from C and D by ReillyBrown
Here's another panel from an old issue I colored up for practice. This is from Cable & Deadpool #40.
I'm trying to practice a coloring style that works well on un-inked work, and I think this sketchy type of coloring matches it pretty well. I tighten up the coloring around the focal points (Mystique's face for instance), but allow it to get more impressionistic in other areas (like the background).
It saves time, plus I think it looks pretty cool!

Thanks man. I was trying a different, sketchier coloring style here, and I think it worked out pretty well.

Sounds like a great technique - I'm always a sucker for Impressionism

I like this style of color work you have here, makes it pop. Been following your work since penciljack. This is the first time the color goes with your art style I love it.

Go ahead! It's always cool to see what other artists can do with my work. If you post it on DA, just make sure you link back to me.

I am digging the sketchy style because it brings energy and like you said, makes your eyes focus on the focus of the panel.

It looks VERY cool. I especially like the coloring/shading on the guy with the striped shirt. Good job!

Nice--I dig the way you handled it. It feels like you could build the tones more like you would as a painter vs. selecting an area and filling with a color.

I think this style works well. The sketchy-ness of it adds movement. ^^
